The Hampton Court Albums of Catherine the Great

Dynastic Rule
Published to coincide with the centenary of the Russian Revolution in 1917, Dynastic Rule celebrates one of the great success stories of a stormy period of Russian history.  This book tells the story of two Directors, Boris and Mikhail Piotrovsky,  whose reign of the State Hermitage Museum has now spanned over 50 years.   From 1 million exhibits at the time of the Revolution in 1917, the collection has reached over 3 million exhibits. This book gives an intimate account of the two men’s extraordinary achievement.

The Hampton Court Albums of Catherine the Great
Empress Catherine the Great dreamed of having an English Garden in St Petersburg.  She purchased two albums of watercolours of Hampton Court Palace gardens and its surrounding parks which she used as inspiration while designing her 'English Garden' at Peterhof. To mark the 300th anniversary of Capability Brown's birth we have published the complete works of these two albums, together with essays by Mikhail Dedinkin, Curator of Drawings at The State Hermitage Museum and David Jacques, garden historian.
