The Hermitage Foundation UK has appointed a new Director, Jonathan Mardall.
Jonathan Mardall outside our office in Pushkin House with Geraldine Norman, retiring Director, and Janice Sacher, Chief Executive and Company Secretary.
After graduating from the University of Geneva with a degree in Russian Language and Literature, he worked as a Field Director for Save the Children on primary health care and refugee health care projects in Burkina Faso, Somalia and Pakistan. In 1991, he joined Coopers & Lybrand (now part of PricewaterhouseCoopers) and worked on a range of economic assignments in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Georgia and Moldova over the next six years. One of his first assignments was as part of a team helping the City of St Petersburg design an inward investment plan and brochure for the city. He then joined a firm specialising in career transition and subsequently set up his own outplacement business in 2001: there he helped senior executives to adjust to their new circumstances, to identify and pursue suitable new job opportunities until a successful outcome was reached. He met his Russian wife while working for Coopers & Lybrand in St Petersburg and now lives in Winchester.
