IN THE AGE OF GIORGIONE– 12 March to 5 June
The Royal Academy of Arts, Piccadilly, London W1J OBD
A fascinating exhibition which illustrates the influences that shaped the work of many of the most celebrated names in Renaissance art. At the beginning of the sixteenth century, although Bellini was still the leading artist, a younger generation that included Titian and Giorgione was emerging. Masterpieces by Giorgione, including Virgin and Child in a Landscape from the Hermitage Museum, will be displayed alongside works by Giovanni Bellini, Albrecht Durer, Titian, Sebastiano del Piombo and Lorenzo Lotto.
